Mucunski in New York: The future should be predictable, war and conflicts should be a thing of the past

Skopje, 23 September 2024 (MIA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York delivered an address at the Summit of the Future’s “Interactive Dialogue 2: Enhancing multilateralism for international peace and security.”

Addressing the event, Minister Mucunski said today people have been faced with multiple threats, including new conflicts, terrorism, violent extremism, risks from new technologies, violation of human rights and climate changes. He said no country is able to tackle these challenges on its own, stressing that an efficient multilateralism is required to secure international peace and security.

“The Summit of the Future is an opportunity to strengthen global governance and to respond to current and future challenges. The pact offers us a trajectory for global action paving the way to enhance multilateralism,” said Mucunski.

The future, he added, should be predictable, prosperous and without fear and the evil of war and conflicts should be a thing of the past.

“Today, we have unique chance to reinforce our multilateral agenda and global systems, adjusting them to the challenges we’re facing in relation to international peace and security. Tomorrow is our present,” Mucuncki said stressing the country is stands ready to be part of the efforts to strengthen multilateralism.

FM Mucunski underlined the need for promoting multilateral solutions based on the UN Charter, honouring of human rights, rule of law and democracy, being vital diplomatic tools.
