Mucunski in France to take part in 19th Francophonie Summit

Skopje, 4 October 2024 (MIA) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski is taking part in the 19th Francophonie Summit held in Villers-Cotterêts in the north of France on Oct. 4-5. 

 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in a press release, this is the 33rd year the summit is taking place. Villers-Cotterêts is known for its dedication to the French language and the francophone diversity. French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated it as the International City of the French Language on Oct. 30, 2023.

 

It was in a royal castle in Villers-Cotterêts, 80 km from Paris, that the French King Francis I signed the Ordinance of Villers-Cotterêts in 1539, imposing French in all legal acts.

 

The 19th Francophonie Summit will continue in Paris on Saturday.

 

The discussions will be held under the theme “Create, Innovate and Do Business in French.”

 

FM Mucunski is scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings on the margins of the summit. mr/
