Mucunski and Albares reaffirm Spain’s support for Euro-integrations, highlight necessity of accelerating process
- As part of his visit to Spain, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski held a meeting Wednesday with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares, during which Spain’s support for the Euro-integrations was reaffirmed, with Albares stressing the necessity of accelerating the country’s Euro-integrations process, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Skopje, 11 September 2024 (MIA) - As part of his visit to Spain, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski held a meeting Wednesday with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares, during which Spain’s support for the Euro-integrations was reaffirmed, with Albares stressing the necessity of accelerating the country’s Euro-integrations process, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
According to the Ministry, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation voiced satisfaction with the strong partnership within NATO and the contribution of the Republic of North Macedonia in the context of regional stability.
The friendly ties between the two countries were welcomed at the meeting, with the two countries marking 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2024. Interlocutors voiced satisfaction with the current development and bilateral cooperation by underscoring the mutual commitments for further enhancement of the friendly relations and the need to make use of potentials for the improvement of cooperation.
Mucunski acquainted his Spanish counterpart with the Ministry’s restructuring, its new authorizations, the opportunities for investments in the country, as well as the potential for the enhancement of cooperation in several areas. Stressing the significance of political support for the integrations, the Minister expressed gratitude for Spain’s unequivocal commitment to the country’s Euro-integrations, as well as satisfaction with the firm partnership within the NATO alliance, the Ministry said.
Speaking about North Macedonia’s Euro-integrations, Mucunski stressed that the new Government is aware of the obligations that follow with the integration process and is working on the implementation of the necessary reforms.
The two ministers agreed that the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries will continue to be built on the spirit of understanding and friendship in the future as well. To that end, in the coming period both parties will work to enhance economic and cultural cooperation, promote sports diplomacy, and assess the possibility of introducing a direct air route between the two countries.
The meeting also discussed the holding of a business forum that would assess the opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, they exchanged opinions on the military conflict in Ukraine, as well as the political situation in the region, the Ministry said.
As part of his visit to the Kingdom of Spain, FM Mucunski will also meet with members of the Spanish Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) vice-president Iñigo Fernandez de Mesa, and deliver remarks at the Elcano Royal Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said in a press release.
