Montenegrin Ambassador urges citizens to use Israel evacuation flights

Skopje, 13 October 2023 (MIA) – At a time of a worsened security situation we urge the citizens to use the evacuation flights from Israel, because we don’t know when we will have a chance to organize the next flight or what the dynamics will be like, said the Montenegrin Ambassador to North Macedonia, Marija Petrović, after an evacuation flight from Tel Aviv landed at International Airport Skopje on Friday.

Petrović voiced gratitude to the Macedonian Government and the Foreign Ministry, over, she said, the exceptional cooperation.

“In these difficult moments our friendship is deepening and together we are demonstrating humaneness and care for our citizens. These are difficult moments and we are all here for our citizens,” said Petrović.

“Organizing these flights,” said Petrović, “is exceptionally difficult, and the citizens should be aware that the governments are doing everything in their power.”

“There are both financial and security risks and our citizens should be aware of that. Our governments are doing everything they can, Both the Montenegrin and the Macedonian diplomatic missions, and all of us, are doing everything we can at this moment,” said Petrović.

Asked about the number of Montenegrin citizens who are still waiting to be evacuated from Israel, Petrović said the exact figure isn’t known yet.

The Ambassador noted that Montenegro has already organized one evacuation flight, which also carried nationals of North Macedonia and of other countries from the region.

“I hope that in the coming period we will manage to bring all our citizens back safely,” said Petrović.

In cooperation with Air Serbia, the Macedonian Government organized a free charter flight from Tel Aviv to Skopje, for all citizens who have requested to be evacuated from Israel. On Thursday, the Government said all expenses for the flight will be covered with funds from the state budget.
