Skopje, 13 August 2021 (MIA) - Police has so far detained 17 people on suspicion of having caused fires and another 16 people have been called in for questioning. Three criminal and two misdemeanor charges have already been filed, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski wrote Friday on Facebook. Spasovski said that the police started to clear up these cases in coordination with Public Prosecutor’s Office. He noted that the Ministry of Interior remains committed, both to the preventing and extinguishing fires as well as to the implementation of the law in terms of determining responsibility for arson or causing fires. “Once again, I would like to express my thanks to the firefighters in the country, the police officers, especially the members of the special police unit, who were on the ground around the clock, the Army members, and to all people who showed solidarity and joined efforts to extinguish the fires,” Spasovski wrote on Facebook.
