MoI denies opposition allegations of Macedonian passport issued to assassination plotter
Skopje, 22 January 2022 (MIA) – The Interior Ministry (MoI) has denied allegations put forward by the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE that a Macedonian passport had been issued to Radoje Zvicer, a criminal gang leader who allegedly was plotting to assassinate Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. “The MoI strongly denies disinformation presented by VMRO-DPMNE that a Macedonian passport had been issued to a Radoje Zvicer. We reiterate that the Doppelganger case has been investigated and verdicts have been handed down. All passports after the investigation was concluded have been made invalid,” it said in a statement. VMRO-DPMNE earlier alleged that the MoI has issued a passport to Zvicer, saying that the Interior Ministry, helmed by Oliver Spasovski, has been once again rocked by a scandal. “According to Europol information, confirmed by the Serbian interior ministry, a plot to assassinate the President of Serbia has been busted. Revealing the so called ‘Mafia’ scandal less than a year ago, VMRO-DPMNE said that Radoje Zvicer, but under a different name, was on the list of criminals who had been issued Macedonian passports by the Macedonian authorities,” said VMRO-DPMNE in a press release on Saturday.
