Skopje, 20 August 2021 (MIA) — Some 563 police officers, including members of all special police units, as well as 224 motorcycle patrols, and 164 police vehicles were deployed across the country over the past 24 hours to help put out the fires and prevent new ones, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release on Friday. The Ministry of Interior urges the public to comply with the ban on entering forested areas. People are also urged to be responsible for their individual actions and to refrain from lighting campfires, setting garbage on fire, burning fields, throwing cigarette butts on the ground, and leaving glass bottles or other flammable objects behind that can cause a fire when heated up in the sun, the release read. “We urge citizens to show vigilance and responsibility,” the Interior Ministry underlined.
