Mitreski: Struggle for workers' rights is constant

Skopje, 1 May 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski congratulates International Workers' Day to workers, unions and all citizens, saying observance and validation of the workers is the cornerstone of an equal, prosperous and socially fair society.

"These are the premises we should be guided by on a daily basis, creating and implementing policies that ensure support for domestic businesses, attracting foreign investments, opening new jobs, increasing wages that make citizens feel dignified, validated and productive at their jobs, while contributing to the country's development," says Mitreski.

He recalls that the current Parliament has adopted the amendments to the Law on Minimum Wage that set up a methodology for continued rise of salaries and standard of life.

"Nevertheless, let me express my assurance that the struggle for workers' rights is constant. Regardless of the current policies and economic circumstances, it is always necessary to develop the social dialogue at various levels among workers, unions, employers, chambers of commerce and authorities," says Mitreski.

According to him, continued enhancement of workers' rights, standard and working conditions must be a priority for all relevant political and societal stakeholders.

"Let's continue to be diligent, equal, and courageous in maintaining and promoting workers' rights," says Mitreski.
