Miteva: 116 controls carried out, 10 legal entities get temporary bans

Skopje, 24 March 2025 (MIA) - Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Government Spokesperson Marija Miteva said 116 extraordinary controls have been carried out over the past few days based on the law on hospitality and several steps have been taken, resulting among other in temporary bans for ten legal entities, cafés and clubs.

It has been found that 15 legal entities out of a total of 23 that hold an active license do not meet the minimum technical requirements.

"Two measures will be imposed on them. First, decisions banning the performance of activity and a proposal to the Ministry of Economy to revoke license. Decisions banning the performance of activity have been issued to six legal entities that do not hold an active license or whose license has expired, while it has been established that they have been operating over the past period," said Miteva.

She added that 59 misdemeanour payment orders in the amount of Mden 522,690 have also been issued on other grounds under the law on hospitality. She added that other grounds include non-compliance with some regulations that should have been approved by mayors, as well as patio permits, failure to indicate the telephone number of the State Market Inspectorate in a visible place in the facility, etc.

Miteva noted that in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, the State Market Inspectorate in the coming days will carry out inspections in special events venues, with a particular emphasis on minimum technical requirements, classification and categorization of restaurants, as well as other provisions under the law on hospitality.
