Misajlovski: VMRO-DPMNE hugely successful in municipal councils vote, 12.000 votes more than 2021 elections

Skopje, 21 October 2025 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE is an absolute winner at the local elections – in addition to 33 mayors elected in the first round, we are also hugely successful in the municipal councils, with 550 elected councilors in municipal councils and the Skopje City Council, as opposed to SDSM’s 232, DUI’s 153, and Levica’s 66, the deputy president of ruling party VMRO-DPMNE, Vlado Misajlovski, said at a press conference Tuesday.

Misajlovski said the citizens have clearly shown in which direction they wish to see the country move, and that they prefer “policies of honest work, commitment, responsibilities, and the right people in the right places”.

“In these elections VMRO-DPMNE has won 12.000 votes more for its lists of candidates for council members compared to the local elections in 2021. At the same time, SDS lost 111.000 votes compared to 2021. VMRO-DPMNE is the party with the most council members in 59 municipalities and the City of Skopje, having an absolute majority in most councils,” Misajlovski said.

He urged citizens to turn out in large numbers and finalize the party’s victory by supporting their candidates in the second round.

Quizzed about the closest races in the second round, Misajlovski said the party would “fight to win everywhere”.

“Let’s see how the electoral process unfolds, but I think we will win in almost all municipalities,” Misajlovski added.
