Misajlovski - Pierce: Macedonian-British defense cooperation at highest level, regional security given top priority

Skopje, 16 July 2025 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski met Wednesday with UK’s Special Envoy to the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce, discussing the region's stability and security, geopolitical challenges and development of bilateral defense cooperation.

"We consider the UK one of our strongest and most important allies. Our defense cooperation is exceptionally strong and visible, especially through the large number of joint activities and British support in the development of the defense sector and the Army," said Minister Misajlovski.

Misajlovski also referred to the crucial importance of regional security in time of serious geopolitical challenges, reaffirming that the Macedonian Army would continue to contribute to the NATO Mission in Kosovo - KFOR, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

During the visit, Defense Minister Misajlovski and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski met with Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Services, Small Business and Exports, Gareth Thomas, discussing possibilities for future cooperation in the field of defense production, considering the joint declaration from the recent NATO Summit in The Hague, in which allies committed to strengthening cooperation in the defense industry and development of new and advanced technologies.

In this regard, Misajlovski met with representatives from the UK Export and Finance Agency working in the field of cybersecurity, project financing and support, development of new and advanced technologies and procurement, reads the press release.
