Misajlovski meets KFOR Commander, Major General Barduani: Macedonia to continue to be a pillar of security in Balkans

Skopje, 26 August 2025 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski met Tuesday with the Commander of NATO’s mission in Kosovo, KFOR, Major General Enrico Barduani. In a press release, the Defense Ministry said the meeting focused on the significant role of the mission in strengthening the security and stability of Kosovo and the region as a whole.
“This NATO mission is exceptionally significant for an even more stable and secure region. We remain committed to our contribution to KFOR and to the logistical support we provide to this mission,” the Minister said at the meeting.

Misajlovski said at a time of serious geopolitical changes and instability, a safe and secure region is a priority for the country. “Macedonia,” he added, “will continue to be a pillar of security in the Balkans”.
Since Major General Barduani’s term as KFOR Commander is set to end, Minister Misjalovski voiced his gratitude for the excellent cooperation and coordination in relation to the Macedonian contingent participating in the mission.
Major General Barduani noted that the Macedonian soldiers are demonstrating top professionalism and full commitment to their tasks and duties on a daily basis. He expressed his gratitude over the country’s continued contribution to the mission, stressing the importance of cooperation to maintaining peace and security in the region.

As part of his visit to the country, Major General Barduani also met with the Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski.
The Ministry noted that the Macedonian Army has been contributing to the KFOR mission since 2020.
