Skopje, 31 December 2024 (MIA) — Together with the country's Chief of Defense Maj. Gen. Sashko Lafchiski, Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski hosted a celebration at the Ministry of Defense ahead of New Year's Eve to honor retired army members and award officers and non-commissioned officers for their achievements in 2024. Two army officers were promoted to the rank of colonel, according to an official press release.

In his remarks, Minister Misajlovski thanked Ministry of Defense staff and army members for their cooperation and dedication. He told them they would continue working together in 2025 and stand together for an even better defense and a stronger Army.

"We have had an excellent cooperation over the past six months," Misajlovski said. "We are demonstrating the trust and synergy we need to continue working together successfully in the year ahead."

"Thank you all for everything you've done," the defense minister said.

Maj. Gen. Lafchiski thanked the retired army members for their long military service and for, according to the release, having "cleared the way for the next generations."

Lafchiski gave his best New Year's wishes to army members and ministry employees, wishing that their "collaborative cohesion" may continue in 2025. mr/
