Skopje, 26 June 2024 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski voiced gratitude over the continued support provided by the United States for the development of the country, especially its defensive capacities, at a meeting Wednesday with US Ambassador Angela Aggeler.
“Together with our strategic partner, we are strengthening national and regional security, as well as the collective defense within the Alliance. A peaceful and stable region is of special importance for the progress of all Western Balkan countries, and the Macedonian Army, as a proven ally, will continue to actively contribute to operations in support of peace,” Misajlovski stressed.
The Defense Minister noted that the US has been actively contributing to the region’s stability over the past 30 years, and added that thanks to various training programs and the support for the Army’s modernization and equipping, the members of the Army are able to significantly contribute within the Alliance’s command structure and peacekeeping missions led by NATO, the EU, and the UN.
According to a press release from the Defense Ministry, both sides voiced their belief that the excellent defense cooperation between the two countries will continue with an increased intensity.
The current security situation in the region and Europe, and the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington were also discussed at the meeting, the Ministry said.
