Skopje, 2 October 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Health said Thursday an agreement has been signed for the procurement of 80,000 seasonal flu vaccines. They are expected to arrive next week and immunization will start in the second half of October.

As always, the flu immunization will begin in the second half of October. This year we procured the largest-ever number of shots, a quadrivalent vaccine of renowned Dutch manufacturer "Abbott", the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

It adds that vulnerable groups are eligible for free vaccination - adults over the age of 65, persons suffering from chronic diseases, health workers, pregnant women, children aged 0-5, persons in retirement homes and staff in retirement homes.

Vaccination against the seasonal flu is the most efficient measure in preventing more severe forms of influenza and related complications, especially among vulnerable groups, reads the press release.
