Ministry of Defense and Euro-Atlantic Council sign memorandum of cooperation
- Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of North Macedonia, Ismet Ramadani, signed on Wednesday a memorandum of cooperation which provides for a numer of joint activities with the main objective of development of democracy and consolidation of Euro-Atlantic values in the Macedonian society, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

Skopje, 15 March 2023 (MIA) - Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of North Macedonia, Ismet Ramadani, signed on Wednesday a memorandum of cooperation which provides for a numer of joint activities with the main objective of development of democracy and consolidation of Euro-Atlantic values in the Macedonian society, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.
Minister Petrovska said the non-governmental sector has a significant role in the development of society and as before, the Ministry of Defense remains a commited partner in the implementation of the activities of this organization.
"The Euro-Atlantic Council is the pillar of Atlanticism in the country. Your commitment in spreading Euro-Atlantic values, especially among young people who are our future leaders, is of crucial importance for the development of our modern, European and democratic society," said the Minister, adding that the Euro-Atlantic Council can always see the Ministry as a partner and strong supporter.
President of the Euro-Atlantic Council, Ramadani, extended gratitude for the continuous support from Minister Petrovska and the Ministry of Defense, noting that Euro-Atlantic values can be introduced to the young population when together and united, which shows a strong interest in everything that the Alliance represents and its role in protecting the security and the stability on NATO territory.
"We agreed to join forces for the promotion of Euro-Atlantic values, capacity building and acceleration of reforms, as well as full support for democracy, human rights and the rule of law. In the coming period, we will work on many joint projects, trainings and initiatives through several programs for different groups of citizens. As of late March 2023, joint holding of several events on the occasion of NATO membership and NATO Day is planned," said Ramadani.
The memorandum of cooperation includes a set of joint activities, such as mutual support in activities to deal with hybrid threats, especially the fight against disinformation that has the potential to undermine democratic values and freedoms, reads the press release.
