Minister Toshkovski meets operational HQ for implementation of 2024 elections

Skopje, 2 April 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski held a meeting with the head and members of the operational headquarters and head of the eight subsidiary HQs formed for the implementation of the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections, said the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday.

Public Security Bureau (PSB) director Sasho Tasevski and head of the Department for Uniform Police at the Bureau, Dushko Lazarov, informed Toshkovski about the activities undertaken by the operational HQ so far, including future measures and activities for the organized, synchronized and coordinated action of the police in ensuring peaceful and democratic elections, as well as preventing any attempt to undermine the electoral process.

Five meetings have been held so far with the State Election Commission, and trainings are currently underway on the role of the police during the ongoing election period.

Minister Toshkovski gave instructions for maintaining a high level of police vigilance and preparedness in this context, with emphasis on the collection of operational information in order to prevent possible threats to the security situation during the pre-election period. PSB director and members of the operational headquarters noted that the security situation is stable and that the police are prepared to face any upcoming security challenge related to the organization of the elections, adds the press release. ssh/ik/
