Skopje, 2 September 2024 (MIA) - Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski met Monday with the head of Turkey’s Defense Industry Agency, Haluk Görgün. The meeting was also attended by high representatives of companies from Turkey’s defense industry.
According to a press release from the Interior Ministry, the Turkish delegation presented the capacities and opportunities offered by the Turkish defense industry as a leader in the region, aimed at equipping and raising the capacities of the Ministry in the fight against terrorism, transnational organized crime and illegal migration.
“Turkey is one of our closest partners, together we’re a part of NATO, while our joint friendly and partner relations are confirmed by a strong cooperation in the economy, trade, security and culture. We are assessing opportunities for cooperation with Turkish producers in the defense and security industry to promote the capacities of our police. We are building a modern and well-equipped European police force that will ensure the security of all citizens, since the functionality of the security system is a prerequisite for the functioning and progress of the rule of law and the well-being of the citizens,” Toshkovski stressed.
At the meeting, Toshkovski also presented the Interior Ministry’s priorities in the field of digitization, continued training of staff and strengthening of the capacities of the integrated border management system. In that context, the Ministry said, Görgün presented opportunities and solutions they have developed and implemented with the use of the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence.
