Minister Petrovska meets with NATO ambassadors: The biggest strength is unity and decisiveness
Skopje, 21 July 2022 (MIA) - Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska held Thursday a working meeting with the ambassadors and defense attaches of NATO members and the countries invited to joint the Alliance, Sweden and Finland, focused on the key decisions from the Madrid NATO Summit. The adoption of the new Strategic Concept, the strengthening of the joint defense and deterrence as well as the strong political and practical support for Ukraine will allow adjustments to the new security reality in the continent in order NATO to continue to serve as a guarantor of peace and security of its member countries and to protect the values, freedom and security of present and future generations, said Petrovska cited by the Defense Ministry. "Everyone is committed to defending and guarding the international order based on rules, democracy, individual freedoms and human rights. Despite having differences, the allies have always united over the main goal: to defend each other and to keep people safe," she stated. Russian's invasion of Ukraine, the Minister added, has disrupted peace in Europe, but it united the allies and in the era of changed security architecture on the European continent, the historic decisions of Sweden and Finland to join NATO will only strengthen the Alliance and the Euro-Atlantic security. The allies stressed that each decision will be met by a coherent and complementary approach so as to mutually enhance the international peace and security. The member countries will be focused on stability of the Euro-Atlantic area through military mobility, resilience, climate change impact, the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, as well as the fight against cyber and hybrid threats and by solving systemic challenges facing the Alliance. NATO should remain a credible organization that will be prepared any time to protect the interests and values of its members, it was concluded. "In an era of strategic competition, while authoritarian regimes dispute the basic principles of our security, the Alliance has to cooperate much closer with the like-minded. With 32 nations at the table, we will be stronger and our nations safer," stated Minister Petrovska.
