Minister Murtezani meets UN Resident Coordinator Columbia 

Skopje, 28 February 2025 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani held a meeting Friday with the United Nations’ Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia, Rita Columbia, discussing the promotion of cooperation between the Ministry of European Affairs and the UN system with the aim of supporting reform processes related to the country’s European integration.

Minister Murtezani stressed the importance of the integrated approach implemented by the UN agencies in support of reforms, especially in the context of the implementation of the National Development Strategy and the drafting of a new Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2030. He assessed the UN system in the country as a significant partner in the processes to strengthen institutional capacities, tackle social and economic inequalities, and implement green policies in line with the European Green Deal.

Resident Coordinator Columbia affirmed the readiness of the United Nations to continue providing technical and expert assistance to the Ministry of European Affairs in the Euro-integration process, stressing that the progress in the implementation of Agenda 2030 is closely linked to the country’s reform priorities. She welcomed the Ministry’s proactive engagement in coordinating donor aid and involving international partners in North Macedonia’s strategic processes.
