Skopje, 30 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani met Monday with the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Özlem Canel. Murtezani extended gratitude for the continuous political, economic and development support that the Netherlands provides to North Macedonia. 

The Ministry of European Affairs said that one of the key topics of the meeting was the excellent cooperation within the MATRA Rule of Law programme, which is essential due to its focus on strengthening democracy and the rule of law - key areas in North Macedonia's progress on the path to European Union membership. Minister Murtezani stressed the importance of the cooperation and highlighted the positive impact it has on the reform processes in the country.

Murtezani and Canel also discussed the successful cooperation between North Macedonia and the Netherlands within the IPA Twinning projects. The Netherlands is the lead partner in seven of the nine joint Twinning projects between the two countries, covering various areas of mutual interest. Murtezani reaffirmed readiness to continue and further expand this cooperation, including through the TAIEX instrument, especially in areas that directly contribute to the country's European integration, reads the press release.
