Minister Murtezani co-chairs inaugural meeting of RGF Monitoring Committee

Skopje, 2 July 2025 (MIA) - Minister of European Affairs Orhan Murtezani, in the capacity of National Coordinator for the Reform and Growth Facility (RGF), co-chaired the inaugural meeting of the Monitoring Committee that took place in the Government on Wednesday.

Minister Murtezani highlighted the importance of this new platform to strengthen reform processes and institutional cooperation, including representatives of the European Commission, international financial institutions, civil society and national institutions, the Ministry of European Affairs said in a press release.

Murtezani said the Monitoring Committee meeting is held right after the Western Balkans Leaders' Meeting in Skopje, which reaffirmed the joint commitment of the region and the European Commission for a breakthrough on the Euro-integration path.

He highlighted that the Growth Plan and the Reform Agenda are designed to bring key socio-economic reforms and promote democratic values and rule of law, which is a prerequisite for stability, prosperity and EU integration.

Committee members discussed the progress made in the RGF implementation, with a focus on meeting the general requirements, achieved first steps and results from the European Commission assessment of the first set of requirements. They exchanged opinions on the monitoring mechanisms, inclusivity in the process through involvement of the civil society, and horizontal issues related to human resources, transparency in budgeting and reform management, and alignment with European legislation.

Murtezani said North Macedonia remains fully committed to implementation of the Reform Agenda, which encompasses priority areas such as good governance, public finance, energy and green transition, human capital development, business environment and rule of law.

The Monitoring Committee is set up in line with the Agreement on the Reform and Growth Facility with the European Commission, towards ensuring transparency, accountability and efficient coordination in the implementation of the reform processes. Continued efforts have been made to strengthen the monitoring, control and audit aspects, as well as effective communication with the public, in order to make the RGF benefits visible and accessible for all citizens, reads the press release.
