Minister Mucunski meets UK Ambassador Lawson 

Skopje, 3 July 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Timcho Mucunski met Wednesday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador, Matthew Lawson.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, at the meeting Mucunski and Lawson highlighted their mutual satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations that the two friendly countries have been fostering over the past three decades. In a press release, the MFA said that the two expressed a readiness for further promotion of mutual friendship and longstanding cooperation in the coming period.

“The talks also focused on the alliance within NATO, highlighting the close cooperation between the two countries within the Alliance, especially in the context of the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington. As allies, the two countries, continuously and through mutual commitments, are actively contributing to the maintaining of global peace and trans-Atlantic stability, considering the current global challenges,” the press release said. 

Minister Mucunski also touched upon the ongoing British project for the strengthening of the capacities of the Directorate for NATO, voicing gratitude for the support that, the Ministry said, contributes even more efficiently for the fulfillment of the country’s political and coordinating role over various issues related to NATO membership.

Mucunski and Lawson affirmed the strong economic and trade relations between the two countries and stressed the interest in their further enhancement.

The two also spoke about the country’s Euro-integration process, commitment to reforms and the overall socio-political and democratic development of the country.
