Minister Misajlovski holds meetings at Pentagon

Skopje, 26 September 2024 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, who is heading a Macedonian delegation to a United States working visit, alongside Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski, has met with the Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory at the Pentagon.  

The Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dory highlighted the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, expressing readiness for deepening mutual cooperation. Dory expressed satisfaction with the country's commitment to the modernization of the Macedonian Army and the readiness to deal with common defense challenges, as a member of the NATO Alliance, the Ministry of Defense said in a press release. 

Minister Misajlovski extended gratitude for the support from the United States in the process of modernization and equipping, stressing that the country remains fully committed to mutual cooperation, in line with the roadmap for defense cooperation, which is an expression of our common defense goals. 

"Misajlovski pointed out that the help and support we receive from the United States is of great importance, towards strengthening the national defense capacities, modernization of the Army and fulfillment of international obligations," reads the press release. 

After the meeting at the Pentagon, Minister Misajlovski visited the Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to the fallen American soldiers, and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  

As part of the visit, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defense, Elizabeta Chupovska Ristova, and Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski, met with U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Tressa Guenov, discussing modalities for strengthening defense cooperation.
