Miloshoski: Macedonia has received no official request on migrants or asylum seekers, would be rejected even if it had

Skopje, 11 December 2025 (MIA) - Citizens can remain calm as the topic of migrants and asylum seekers is a manipulative political issue, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Antonio Miloshoski said late Thursday.

“Macedonia has not received any request, nor has any topic on migrants been imposed by the UK, and even if it were, it would be categorically rejected. The public can remain calm, the issue of migrants is a manipulative political topic,” Miloshoski said.

Speaking on Kanal 5 TV, he underscored that Macedonia and the United Kingdom have signed an agreement on investments, cooperation, and projects, with no obligations related to migrants.

“Macedonia and the United Kingdom have signed an agreement on investments, cooperation, and projects, and neither side has raised the issue of migrants. This is a topic that can be easily manipulated, and I believe that within the SDSM, especially with its leader Venko Filipche, the migrant issue plays a dual role. As SDSM president, he faces party members who are leaving for other political options, seeing that SDSM has lost the influence it had 5 or 10 years ago, and now he is being advised that this topic could be used as a cover,” Miloshoski said.

He stated that the number of asylum seekers who have been granted refugee status in Macedonia is 14, including nine citizens of Kosovo, three from Congo, and two from Syria.

When asked why the government had not refuted reports in the British media, Miloshoski pointed out that the Prime Minister’s own statement denying such claims carries sufficient weight and serves as an adequate rebuttal.
