Mickoski-Kasanof: European perspective key priority in our strategic vision for the future

Skopje, 21 January 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who attended the inauguration of the new US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, held a meeting today with Alexander Kasanof, US Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Balkans.

As Mickoski stated in a post on his Facebook page, the talks with Kasanof focused on strategic issues of vital importance for the country.

“During the talks, we discussed the strategic issues crucial for Macedonia, the essential support from our long-standing strategic partner, the US, and the current challenges facing our country and the region. Macedonia’s European perspective and its active role within NATO are key priorities in our strategic vision for the future,” Mickoski wrote in the post.

On Monday, the Prime Minister held a meeting with Michael Whatley, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, with whom he followed the inaugural address of US President Donald Trump.

During an event organized by Trump Media and Rumble after the inauguration, Mickoski met with Bongino, one of Trump's closest associates and popular right-wing political commentator.

"A conversation on Macedonia, our challenges as well as opportunities. Our arguments and positions are clear, and our strategic partnership with the U.S. and President Trump's administration is strong. We are fighting at home for higher wages, pensions, new infrastructure, better healthcare, more competitive education, a fast-growing economy, etc., but we are also fighting in Brussels, Berlin, Paris, London, Washington... Our voice is getting stronger!," said Mickoski.
