Mickoski: While our ancestors aimed to liberate the country, we are committed to economic growth

Skopje, 11 October 2024 (MIA) - The spirit of resistance and defiance demonstrated on that October 11 endures to this day; it is a driving force for change and a better tomorrow. It is the thought that propels us forward, that it can and must always be better. While our ancestors aimed to liberate the state, our goal is to develop Macedonia, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said in a message on the National Uprising Day – October 11.

“This year, we commemorate 83 years of resistance and the aspiration for a free Macedonia. On that October 11, 1941, the Macedonians marked their place among the free nations, joining forces with the Allies of World War II to defeat Nazism and Fascism. While we face challenges, we have embarked on a journey of economic transformation, and there is no turning back. We are firmly committed to the citizens that we will work diligently, honestly, and responsibly to return the state to the hands of the people, focusing on specific reforms, projects, and changes essential for restarting our institutions and system,” as stated in Mickoski's message.

The era ahead of us will be marked by economic progress and development, legal certainty of the system, and the rule of law, which inherently entails an uncompromising fight against crime and corruption. It represents a future for all citizens, development projects, hope that brings positive changes, new job opportunities, prospects for the youth, and ultimately the provision of a better and higher quality of living standards.

“As a generation of politicians, we do not have a second chance. We must seize this opportunity and the trust you have placed in us and make the most of it. We owe it to the current and future generations to ensure they can build their futures here, as it is a legacy from those who came before us. Only together, united as Macedonians, Albanians, Turks, Roma, Serbs, Vlachs, and Bosniaks, can we create unity, a future, and prosperity,” Mickoski said.

“We remain committed to advancing on the path of creating a state for happy and satisfied citizens. Wishing everyone a happy October 11 - the Day of the National Uprising,” reads the message.
