Mickoski: VMRO-DPMNE will run positive campaign ahead of May 8 elections

Ohrid, 18 April 2024 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, who is in Ohrid on the first day of the parliamentary election campaign on Thursday, said the party will run a positive campaign “that will restore the citizens’ trust in the institutions.”

“After 6,5 years of destruction, crime, humiliation, of Macedonia being robbed, we want to run a campaign that will restore hope. Apart from a few DUI officials and a few SDSM top officials, all the other citizens feel like second-class citizens. This has to stop and after May 8, there will be accountability for everything that has happened in the past 6,5 years,” Mickoski told reporters in Ohrid.

The ruling party SDSM, he said, hasn’t said a word to criticize DUI in the past two weeks of the presidential campaign, whereas DUI has been regularly criticizing SDSM. Mickoski accused SDSM of being “DUI’s servants.”

During his working visit to Ohrid, Mickoski announced that the election program of the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition amongst other things envisages the reallocation of budgetary funds for the municipalities in the amount of EUR 250 million annually, i.e. one billion euros in the next four years.

“I call on all mayors to prepare projects in the interest of the citizens. We aim to have works at 500 locations across the country at least. We want to be a government for all citizens and to show everybody that all politicians are not the same,” Mickoski stated.

VMRO-DPMNE and the Your Macedonia coalition ahead of the May 8 parliamentary elections will hold this evening a rally in Ohrid, where the party has been traditionally launching the election campaigns.
