Skopje, 4 July 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday expressed readiness to talk with experts, as well as with ambassadors over the announced reform related to the Judicial Council and the Council of Public Prosecutors.

On Wednesday, some of the ambassadors expressed remarks on the announcement of a potential dissolution of the Judicial Council and the Council of Public Prosecutors.

"I am ready to sit down for day-long talks, to work until we find a solution to make it better, just not as it has been so far. Because as it has been so far, it is not good," Mickoski told reporters during Thursday's visit to Gevgelija. 

Commenting on Wednesday's statements by some of the ambassadors, Mickoski said he has heard the statement, noting that 600,000 citizens have voted for the policies of the ruling coalition.

"It has somehow become a practice for ambassadors to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. Still and all, 600,000 citizens voted for this coalition. Obviously, it means nothing to them, the policies of this Government. At the same time, they say that the situation with the rule of law is catastrophic, in their reports they say that crime and corruption are flourishing, the trust in the Judicial Council and in the Council of Public Prosecutors is at two-three percent among the citizens," said Mickoski. 

He added that he was ready to sit down for talks and if the solution is better, he will immediately accept and apply it.

"Once and for all, let's restore the citizens' trust in the institutions of the judiciary and the prosecution, because this is clearly not the way it should be. Just look at who the members of the Judicial Council are and everything will be clear to you. We all witnessed all the drama that happened in the past period, related to the Judicial Council, the Council of Public Prosecutors," Mickoski said. 

He pointed out that accountability has a name and surname and should be located.
