Mickoski says he’ll travel to Blagoevgrad to support Macedonians in Bulgaria
Skopje, 27 October 2022 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said he will attend the opening of a Macedonian club in Blagoevgrad in order to give support to the Macedonians in Bulgaria, to encourage them that their country stands behind them and that the party will protects their interests.
“We have no anti-Bulgarian sentiment, we have a pro-Macedonian sentiment. I expect the event to be in the spirit of friendship between the Macedonian and the Bulgarian peoples. We are going there to support our people in Bulgaria, to give support as VMRO-DPMNE, and as the leader of the largest political party, to encourage them that their country Macedonia stands behind them and that it will defend and protect their interests. We, as VMRO – DPMNE, have no intention of giving up on our brothers on that side of the border,” Mickoski said in response to a reporter’s question ahead of Thursday’s event “Political dialogue of the EPP parties in the region.”
Commenting on the news that Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski will not attend the opening of the club in Blagoevgrad, as well as that President Stevo Pendarovski has not been invited, Mickoski said he didn’t believe in what they said.
“This was an opportunity to show political unity, but unfortunately those who have their mouths full of unity, should have been going there with us and shake the hands of the Macedonians in Bulgaria, who invite the politicians in Macedonia. If I was invited, surely he was also invited, but we are used to such behavior. I regret that they remain servants of someone else’s interests rather than the interests of their own people. I’m convinced that the Macedonian people know how to speak up in the next elections and who to give their trust to,” said Mickoski.
