Mickoski: Ruling majority is comfortable, Electoral Code requires political consensus

Skopje, 19 June 2025 (MIA) - The ruling majority is comfortable, almost two-thirds of the MPs support this Government, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Thursday in response to a reporter's question on a possible expansion of the ruling majority.

"So, it may happen, or it may not happen. The Government continues to deliver what the citizens expect," said Mickoski.

Asked about the adoption of reform laws, which require Badinter majority, Mickoski said that not all the laws depend on Badinter, adding that some are passed with "80 MPs, with a 2/3 majority of those laws".

As for the Electoral Code, Mickoski said it was outside the laws that were part of the reforms for the Parliament's Rules of Procedure, where there are clear deadlines in the procedures.

"The Electoral Code requires a political consensus. Because one of the political parties could use filibustering tactics again and the Electoral Code will not be adopted. But that does not mean that Badinter is needed. We need to have a political consensus and from what I have as information, there is one. We will see when it enters the parliamentary procedure. One of the requirements for the growth plan is precisely the adoption of the Electoral Code," said Mickoski.
