Mickoski: Parliament events a brutal violation of democracy
Skopje, 17 November 2021 (MIA) – Last week’s events in the Parliament are a brutal violation of democracy in the country. The way in which the formation of the new parliamentary majority was prevented resembles undemocratic and totalitarian countries, where threats to lawmakers is commonplace, says VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski.
Mickoski told Telma TV that Besa MP Kastriot Rexhepi not only trampled on his own word because of material gains but also the word of his own party.
“It is utterly ridiculous that Rexhepi releases a video 24 hours after his disappearance, in which it is clear that the statement is not his own but given to him and read out to the public,” says the VMRO-DPMNE leader.
He adds that such things should not have a place in politics, because they demonstrate the country’s deficiencies on the road to the EU.
Mickoski says the 59 MPs of the Government coalition were prevented from their leaders to attend the Parliament session, because they didn’t trust them and thought some would support the no-confidence vote.
According to him, it is logical that early elections take place now, “because VMRO-DPMNE won in 42 municipalities across the country, including the City of Skopje.”
“Justice will eventually have to prevail in the country, heralding a return of the true principles and values in society. The government led by VMRO-DPMNE will work primarily on improvement of the economy, health and all sectors that the incumbent authorities have ruined,” notes Mickoski.
