Mickoski on official suspected of bribery: Deviant behaviours of any kind will not be tolerated

Skopje, 7 November 2025 (MIA) – Deviant behaviours of any kind will not be tolerated. The operation was launched based on previous reports and the case now is in the hands of the prosecution office and the courts, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Friday when asked to comment on an operation which resulted in the head of the Agency for Financial Support in Agriculture and Rural Development being suspected of taking bribe.

“I’ve said it many times in the past – it won’t be tolerated. There were several similar cases in the past, including the case with the director of the geriatric hospital. I call on all the citizens and the business community to file a report if they are victims to this kind of behaviour. I encourage them because this kind of behaviour is detrimental to the society,” Mickoski told reporters after overseeing construction works as part of the City Train project.

He said the state has mechanisms to collect evidence and to sanction perpetrators if proven guilty.

“We have to once and for all put an end to this if we want to make progress,” the prime minister stressed.

The Prosecutor's Office on Thursday said investigators and police officers were conducting searches at multiple locations across the country due to suspected corruption.

"Currently, investigators from the Investigation Centre of the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Corruption and units of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), led by a public prosecutor from this Prosecutor's Office, are conducting searches at multiple locations across the country," read the press release.

The searches, added the Prosecutor's Office, are being carried out on grounds of reasonable suspicion of crimes of corruption.
