Mickoski: No migrants received in country as long as I am PM

Skopje, 9 December 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan rejected Tuesday speculation that camps would be built in the country for migrants transferred from the United Kingdom, noting that no such talks have taken place.

"As long as I am PM, no tent housing illegal migrants will be put up and no migrants will be received. I thoroughly reject this speculation. The topic of asylum seekers has not been discussed and even if it is, we will reject it. We have talked about joint efforts to fight illegal migration," PM Mickoski told reporters.

Referring to today's announcement by opposition leader Venko Filipche over an online petition regarding the possible transfer of migrants, the PM said SDSM fought an already lost battle.

"This is not only false, but rather odd. They are grappling for a topic that is a total antipode of their policies and is naturally closer to the policies of VMRO-DPMNE. This is an already lost battle. They have no ideas, no concept, they are trying to mobilize themselves, so they will make up topics, ruffle feathers," said Mickoski.

He also announced the launch of a project dubbed "Safe Country", including complete monitoring of state borders for the purpose of preventing illegal entry.
