Skopje, 23 April 2023 (MIA) - No construction works are taking place on Corridor 8 yet, because there is no project, said VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski.
"It will be long before we see construction activities on the ground. You heard it from the government too, what we have been saying all along, i.e. they are not ready and have no projects," Mickoski said in response to a reporter's question about his position after the Ministry of Transport and Communications on Saturday only released a statement and no construction activities were seen on Corridor 8.
Mickoski also gave new details from the Government's contract with Bechtel and Enka, pointing out that the Government seeks amendments to the law on construction, i.e. to start the project without first obtaining a construction permit. He called on the Government to deny it if it is not true, noting that not everything that the party has stated so far about the construction of the corridors has been denied.
In response to a reporter's question he said the terms of the contract take effect as of today meaning that, he noted, the state will pay penalties because the law on labor relations has not been changed yet in terms of the working hours.
