Mickoski: Let's see Arsovska's plan first, then we'll protect interest of people of Skopje

Skopje, 21 August 2024 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska to convene the City of Skopje Council and present her plan for solving the ongoing problems regarding waste collection and public transport in the capital.

In response to a reporter's question whether Arsovska's plan was unacceptable, PM Mickoski said he first needed to see her plan and then he would do anything he could to protect the interest of the people of Skopje.

According to Mickoski, Arsovska did not present any solutions at the Monday meeting in the Government.

"She had no plan. I invited her because she had asked for a meeting, but I didn't hear a plan. I gave her some ideas. I expect that, today or tomorrow, she will organize a coordination meeting with the advisory groups and finally present her plan.

"Let's see the mayor's plan first, then of course we will do everything we can to protect the interest of the people of Skopje," Mickoski said.

After the meeting with Arsovska, Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski told a news conference Monday that they had expected to be presented with a plan or real needs the Government could help with, but she had not offered anything constructive, he said.

Dismissing Mickoski and Perinski's claims, Arsovska told a news conference Tuesday that she had presented a plan, but it was rejected. She was then asked to come up with a new one.

The Skopje mayor also said that VMRO-DPMNE's councillors were responsible for the dire situation in the city, given that they did not vote for any public enterprise projects. mr/
