Mickoski: Legal provision determines what Hungarian loan can be used for
- The credit line granted from Hungary is being used to meet the financing needs of the intended recipients, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday, dismissing as speculation recent allegations that the government was misusing the funds.

Negotino, 26 February 2025 (MIA) — The credit line granted from Hungary is being used to meet the financing needs of the intended recipients, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday, dismissing as speculation recent allegations that the government was misusing the funds.
Prime Minister Mickoski said the opposition should back up their accusations with evidence of wrongdoing.
"Even if we wanted to, we could not do that," PM Mickoski said. "The government adopted a legal provision determining the ways the funds from the loan can be spent."
Speaking about the funds provided through the Hungarian loan, Mickoski said many businesses were interested in applying. He said the finance minister was briefing him daily on the situation.
One bank alone had project financing applications amounting to EUR 180 million, he said.
"When we put all the banks together, the amount goes over EUR 350 million, which means that even these 250 will not be enough," the prime minister said.
"We may have to use our friends and allies outside Macedonia again for a new credit line under ultra-favorable conditions. We can see that this is the way to develop the economy," he said. mr/
