Mickoski in Struga: Corruption in judiciary to be tackled after elections

Struga, 30 September 2025 (MIA) - I intend to tackle corruption in the judiciary after the local elections because we have to put an end to this bastion of crime, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski told a rally in Struga on Tuesday.

Mickoski said SDSM and DUI would fight to save the corrupt judiciary to the very end.

"This is their last tango to save their careers and not be held accountable. It is clear that the judiciary is the last bastion of crime in the country, which protects SDSM and DUI. There are many cases in the institutions but no will to process them. The SDSM and DUI followers reign in the prosecutor's offices and their task is to protect them," said Mickoski.

Mickoski also referred to "secret deals" among opposition parties, such as the one between Levica and DUI in Struga, aimed at keeping DUI in power in the town over the next four years.

"This is a deal that directly harms the citizens of Struga. What is the purpose of this deal? To dissipate the anti-DUI votes and divide Struga residents," said Mickoski.

VMRO-DPMNE has not nominated a mayoral candidate in Struga, only a list of candidates for council members.

"This list is the right choice for Struga. Let's support the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition and help Struga free itself from the corruption and the problems it is facing, and build it as partners," said Mickoski.

List principal Kosta Hiohi said the party programme included specific projects and a vision for Struga that offers a better life for all citizens.

"Upon election of the mayor and the council, we will initiate a conservation of the illegal landfill until it is finally dislocated. In parallel, we will revise the functionality of the water supply network, detect defects and illegal connections. We will also earmark funds for revival of the old Struga architecture, build car parks in the most congested parts of the town," said Hiohi.
