Mickoski: Ilinden to unite and serve as a reminder of the country we need to leave behind for future generations

Skopje, 2 August 2025 (MIA) - May Ilinden remind us of the sacrifice that generations have made so that our generation can have what it has today - a free and independent Macedonia, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in a statement to journalists in Skopje after laying flowers in Skopje on occasion of August 2, Republic Day - Ilinden.
“May their sacrifice serve as a reminder of the kind of country we need to leave behind for the generations to come. A country with happy citizens, a country that is prosperous and a homeland to all – regardless of ethnicity. May this day bring us closer, this is a day for unity,” the Prime Minister said.

Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Izet Mexhiti and Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska, Prime Minister Mickoski laid flowers at the monument of the President of the Krushevo Republic, Nikola Karev; the ASNOM monument; and the monument of the first President of the Presidium of ASNOM, Metodija Andonov – Chento in Skopje.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister and leader of ruling party VMRO-DPMNE will head a party delegation to Tashmarunishta in Struga, where he will lay flowers.
The main celebration of Ilinden is set to take place in Krushevo and will be addressed by President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
