Mickoski: Gov’t coalition stable, Miloshoski and Filkov had ‘a bad day’

Skopje, 2 April 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday the government coalition is stable, while the public clash between VMRO-DPMNE MP Antonijo Miloshoski and Minister of Justice Igor Filkov, who comes from the ZNAM Movement, will end, according to the PM, at two personal opinions.

In an interview Tuesday, VMRO-DPMNE MP Miloshoski said Justice Minister Filkov has performed poorly in terms of his tasks and judicial reforms.  Minister Filkov then responded by stating that Miloshoski has been a lawmaker since 2011 and “an active participant in the creation of the ‘cancerous’ judicial system”, adding that the VMRO-DPMNE MP also “directly participated” in the adoption of the 2023 Criminal Code amendments.

Assessing the clash between the two, the PM said “everyone has a right to a bad day”.

“The ruling coalition is stable. MP Antonijo Miloshoski is a member of the party’s [VMRO-DPMNE] Executive Committee, he is one of the people closest to me. My cooperation with Antonijo Miloshoski is at the highest level, he is an added value both within the parliamentary group and within the party. I also know what kind of problems Minister Filkov has faced, I know what kind of state he found the Ministry of Justice in, and we are working together on a daily basis when it comes to the reforms, which are very important especially in the judiciary. But I am convinced that all of this will end at two personal opinions and that everyone has a right to a bad day. And I think that bad day for both of them is over,” Mickoski said.

- Владината коалиција е стабила. Пратеникот Антонио Милошоиски е член  на Извршниот комитет на партијата, тој е дел од мојот најблизок периметар. Јас соработката со Антонио Милошоски ја оцену

Quizzed about potential issues with the VLEN coalition following statements made by Health Minister Arben Taravari, Mickoski said he doesn’t feel there are any problems.

“On the contrary, we have an exceptional cooperation. The citizens should rest assured, the Government is stable, more than two-thirds unofficially, or 78 MPs officially, support this Government. Based on the polls I’ve seen, the citizens are also providing their support, there is a tremendous positive opinion that Macedonia is moving in the positive direction, and this represents an inspiration for us to continue moving forward and working,” Mickoski said.
