Mickoski: Gov't approves more than 270 projects in almost all municipalities

Brvenica, 17 October 2024 (MIA) - The Government at its session on Wednesay approved more than 270 projects in almost all municipalities, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said during Thursday's visit to Brvenica Municipality.

Mickoski told reporters that the next government session will slightly extend the deadline for the municipalities that need to complete the project documentation.

"More than 270 projects have been approved, in almost all municipalities. These are not projects only for mayors who come from VMRO-DPMNE or the government coalition, but also mayors coming from SDSM, DUI or independent mayors, because we are fighting for every square millimeter of the entire territory of the country, every piece of land is important to us and we want to invest everywhere. I expect the agreements to be signed next week, starting off the implementation of this historic realization of projects regarding which more than 4 billion denars will be invested. There will be a slight extension of the deadline at the next government session, because some of the municipalities need to provide missing documents in their projects. I believe the deadline will be reasonable, until November 10 or 15. We expect the promised amount of 6 billion to be delivered by the end of the year, and next year there will be 15 billion, which means that projects of about 21 billion denars will be delivered from the central budget to the municipalities," Mickoski pointed out.

The PM appeals to the municipalities of Strumica, Tearce and Saraj, as well as the City of Skopje to use the extended deadline and submit new municipal projects.

"The Municipality of Strumica did not receive funds because it applied with a project that is ongoing with a selected contractor. I appeal to the Municipality of Strumica to use the opportunity until November 15 and submit new projects that we will be able to fund. Funds have not been allocated for the Municipality of Tearce, which submitted projects via a private e-mail address, and therefore I call on the Mayor to act like all the other 79 Mayors. We have incomplete documentation submitted by the Municipality of Saraj, I expect it to be completed by November 15. It is about road infrastructure in Laskarci and a water pipe. The City of Skopje applied with incomplete projects, asking for buses, asking for funds to maintain the hygiene on the streets. The Government has already transferred 600 million denars, which are on the City of Skopje's account, for the realization of the "Hasan Pristina" boulevard, but nothing has been done for two years. I expect investments there to improve in terms of performance in the coming period," PM Mickoski pointed out.
