Skopje, 20 August 2025 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE will soon reveal its nominees for mayoral posts in municipalities following additional evaluations, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday during the visit to Amphenol facility in Kochani.

“The winner of these local elections is clear, and that is the government majority,” Mickoski noted.

Responding to a journalist’s question about independent candidates for the local elections, the Prime Minister said that as a government they have done everything to ensure everyone is satisfied.

“Earlier they said many signatures were needed, now they say few signatures are enough. I don’t know what we as a Government should do to ensure everyone is satisfied. It is impossible. This is the result of the Constitutional Court, which annulled two articles, the amendments to the Electoral Code were not adopted in Parliament, and now this is the reaction, and I don’t know what more we can do as a Government,” Mickoski said.

Regarding the MPs needed for a Badinter majority in Parliament, Mickoski said that after 20 years, DUI is in opposition, and it is clear that there are major problems within their structure and that they are trying to use certain maneuvers to pressure their way back into the government.

“I think the winner of these local elections is clear, and that is the government majority, so we continue on the path of reforms, delivering for the citizens, honest, hard, and dedicated work…Over the past 14 months, this government has operated steadily. The public can see that the corruption and daily criminality of the past are no longer part of practice, and such deviant behavior has ceased entirely,” Mickoski said.
