Mickoski: Everyone has a right to protest, minimum wage to be raised in line with legislation in March

The Prime Minister said the minimum wage would instead by increased in March in accordance with the legislation.

Skopje, 27 January 2026 (MIA) - Everyone has a right to protest, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Tuesday when asked to comment about the upcoming protest of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) calling for the minimum wage to be raised to EUR 600. The Prime Minister said the minimum wage would instead by increased in March in accordance with the legislation.
“In accordance with the law, the minimum wage will be increased in March, i.e., the wages that the workers get in April for March will be increased. We have said that we would support any agreement the unions reach with the employers,” Mickoski said.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia is set to protest on Wednesday in Skopje for an increase of the minimum wage to EUR 600 and and a EUR 100 increase of all other wages.
