Mickoski: Drafting a law that will guarantee true equitable representation, but also constitutionality
- Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said a law that will guarantee equitable representation of ethnic communities is in a phase of analysis by constitutional law experts, adding that before it is forwarded to Parliament, it will be sent to the Venice Commission for an opinion so that, as he said, "no one will be able to make politics out of it afterwards."

Skopje, 26 February 2025 (MIA) – Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said a law that will guarantee equitable representation of ethnic communities is in a phase of analysis by constitutional law experts, adding that before it is forwarded to Parliament, it will be sent to the Venice Commission for an opinion so that, as he said, "no one will be able to make politics out of it afterwards."
Asked whether his statement that there would be no employment based on ethnicity while he is the Prime Minister denied the statement of his Deputy Izet Mexhiti that 2,000 to 3,000 Albanians would be employed, Mickoski told Alsat TV "you can interpret that however you want."
"In essence, there will be no political employment, there will be no employment based on party, regardless of whether that party is ethnic Albanian, Turkish, Roma, Serbian, multi-ethnic, Macedonian, etc. I believe that we need to overcome the Rubicon when we functioned according to the principle of "as before" and party recommendations, we need to look at quality because if we want to move forward, and if we want to create a society we want to live in, then we need to look at quality, and not look at any party recommendations... I know many high-quality Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Roma, and Macedonians...," said Mickoski.
He added that the point is not how quickly the law will be passed, but rather that it be a solution "that will currently guarantee us true equitable representation, but also constitutionality."
He also noted that since becoming Prime Minister, he has not raised ethnic issues because he wants to focus mainly on the economy, development, and a better life.
"Because if we constantly deal with political and ethnic issues that arise from the opposition, there will be less room to deal with the real things and real life, because all citizens want to live well," the PM pointed out.
