Mickoski does not rule out early parliamentary elections, but says decision will be driven by national interests rather than political interests

Strumica, 8 October 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday that a possibility of early parliamentary elections and a new four-year mandate would be logical to consider after VMRO-DPMNE's expected victory in the local elections, noting however that such decision would be driven by national interests rather than political interests.
"I expect that after these local elections we will enter a cycle of intensified investment wave, and those who follow politics will say that VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition will have a strong victory, stronger than that in 2021, at least that's what they say, and it is logical to call early parliamentary elections to secure a new four-year mandate. If we see it as a political decision, I would agree, but if we see it from a state logic, then we think differently - we want to put the state and the interests of businessmen first, so that you have a predictable future, so that you know what you can expect, and only then do we think about our political interest. But, we'll see. First, things have to happen, and then we will make decisions," PM Mickoski said at Wednesday's Business Forum in Strumica.
