Mickoski: Deepening strategic partnership with U.S., strong support and new economic opportunities for Macedonia

Skopje, 13 February 2026 (MIA) - The White House’s release of the joint statement on reciprocal trade between the U.S. and Macedonia represents a clear signal of deepening strategic partnership and underscores the strong support Macedonia receives from the United States, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said.

On his Facebook profile, he noted that after signing the partnership agreement with the United Kingdom and closing the 26-year post-monitoring dialogue with the Council of Europe, the White House issued late last night a joint statement between the United States and Macedonia on reciprocal trade.

“This statement is a clear signal of the deepening strategic partnership and underscores the strong support Macedonia receives from the United States. It lays the groundwork for a comprehensive agreement that will guarantee tariffs not exceeding 15%, and for certain products and industries, tariffs of up to 0%, creating new opportunities for exports, investment, and economic growth. Through these measures, we reinforce Macedonia’s position as a reliable and predictable partner, build an economy with higher standards, and strengthen our international position,” Prime Minister Mickoski posted on Facebook.

He noted that this represents a policy focused on tangible results, progressing step by step, guided by a clear vision and backed by the steadfast support of our strategic allies.
