Mickoski at bilateral meetings in UK: Good neighborly relations main priority of new government

Skopje, 18 July 2024 (MIA) — At the 4th European Political Community summit held in the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski had several bilateral meetings, including with the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain David Lammy, he said in a video statement.

PM Mickoski said he had also met with the presidents of Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria — Aleksandar Vucic, Jakov Milatovic and Rumen Radev — and with Croatia's PM Andrej Plenkovic. At all these meetings, Mickoski said, he discussed regional challenges and the priorities of the new Macedonian government.

"The main priority of Macedonia and the new Macedonian government is good neighborly relations and finally finding a permanent and sustainable solution to the problem we have with our eastern neighbor," Mickoski said.

He added that he had also spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European Council President Charles Michel and "clearly presented the positions of the new Macedonian government."

At one of the panels held as part of the summit, PM Mickoski addressed the regional challenges in energy and connectivity and spoke about the country's best interests, he noted.

"The main interest of Macedonia as a country is to be a country that the main energy sources supplying Central Europe will transit through," Mickoski says.

He concluded his video statement by saying the government delegation was "coming back with good impressions after representing Macedonian interests with dignity in Oxford, Great Britain." mr/
