Skopje, 18 August 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, on the occasion of the Army Day – August 18, said that the Macedonian Army is the strongest guarantee that the people will have the space to develop, create, and build their future.
“Today we celebrate August 18 – Army Day, the day when we honor one of the most important institutions of the state. When we speak about the Army, we speak about the continuation of the Ilinden and ASNOM idea – the idea of an independent and free Macedonia. Our ancestors fought with heart, sacrifice, and vision,” Mickoski wrote on Facebook.
Mickoski underscored that the Army is a symbol of a new era, with investments in equipment, infrastructure and dignified conditions for soldiers.

“Today the Army stands shoulder to shoulder with allies around the world, while remaining firmly rooted in its own land, always present when citizens are in need. You are the first line of defense, but also the first to show what service to the people truly means. The Army is the heart of the state. If that heart beats strongly, the state is healthy and secure. Our Army beats strongly, and that is why Macedonia will move forward. Long live the Army!” Mickoski wrote on Facebook.
Mickoski attended the central ceremony marking Army Day at the Shtip-based barracks on Monday, where President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski and Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski also delivered addresses.
