Mickoski: Aliu and Hoxha part of an important process of rejuvenation, promotion and establishment of new standards

Skopje, 9 June 2025 (MIA) - Parliament is discussing Monday the government motions nominating Azir Aliu for the position of health minister and Albrim Hoxha for deputy minister of agriculture, forestry and water economy. Presenting the motion to the MPs, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the nominations are part of an important process of rejuvenation, promotion and establishment of new standards.

“Doctor Aliu is a Doctor of Computer Science. A professor, a man who for years has focused on managing systems, data and digital solutions. At a time when in some countries a diagnosis can be gotten with a single click, we are still lagging behind. It is time for this to change. This is precisely why we believe his energy and knowledge will bring a new dimension to the management of the health system. Will it be easy? No, it won’t be. But is it possible? Yes, because we have already demonstrated that it is possible. Less than a year has passed, and the difference can already be felt,” the Prime Minister said.

Mickoski said the Government is slowly restoring “the lost feeling that the state is here for the citizens”, adding they are building a system in which the institutions serve all citizens equally.

“We are here today to continue this process and to strengthen it. I stand before you to present two nominations for two ministries – health and agriculture. This is not just a matter of staffing decisions. It is a part of the bigger picture, the reform direction in which the Government is moving and our aspiration to set the system on new, healthy foundations,” he stressed.

Speaking about the nominee for deputy minister of agriculture, forestry and water economy, Albrim Hoxha, Mickoski said he is a young and serious man who is aware of the state of affairs on the ground.

“Agriculture is not just an economic branch. It is someone’s life. We are talking about families, villages, future. These are our fields, our food, our safety, but unfortunately, this field too has been neglected for years. Farmers were left on their own, without vision and support, and with thousands of issues and not a single systemic solution,” Mickoski said.

Aliu previously acted as minister of information society and administration in 2023 and 2024. He is one of the Alliance for Albanians (AA) members who stayed in Vlen following the coalition’s split with Arben Taravari’s AA and his decision to leave the government.
