Skopje, 20 July 2024 (MIA) — The State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption members technically do not have the legal right to diplomatic passports but if the foreign minister deems it necessary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may issue them diplomatic passports, the MFA said in response to public reactions following the members' requests to have diplomatic passports.

According to the MFA in a press release, the seven requests for diplomatic passports had been submitted in April and the then foreign minister approved the issuance of a diplomatic passport only for the commission's chairwoman Tatjana Dimitrovska.

Regarding the remaining anticorruption commission members' passport requests, the MFA said that "the minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade will make additional consultations" to decide whether they should receive "diplomatic or official travel documents." mr/
